of this picture is perplexing as it stretches over six years when much
happened, including World War I. The lady was much portrayed by Spare in this period,
and may be considered Spare's astral partner. Her hand is touched by a snake
which encircles a kneeling figure with eye glyphs for arms and letters from the

There is an amorphous pigment shape, probably created
automatically. It is reminiscent of a Rorsach Inkblot Test and can function in
like manner. It is suggestive of magical gesture used by both Spare and Crowley

There is also a considerable body of sigils and letters from the
Alphabet of Desire. This picture is a important resource for those studying
